On March 15th , a state level short film competitions award function was conducted by us, the students of the Department of Media Arts Loyola college Chennai.

The preproduction works started from the last week of February and went on till all the entries were finalized on March 8th. The banner and posters were designed by the designing committee and sent through post to colleges all over Tamil Nadu. Students circulated the posters themselves to the colleges in and around Chennai.

Finally about 42 entries were received. All the movies were reviewed by the jury team and the awards were planned to be given on the last day of the event, that is on March 15th.

This event happens every year and it is held in association with 'Parivu' monthly magazine. It's hounarable chairman Mr.Sakthivel was also present in the function and welcomed the chief guest.The winners​ were announced a cash prize of 10,000, 5,000 and 3,000 as in respective orders of first second and third.

The event began with screen of the few selected short films from the entries received. In between the function was addressed by popular film artists that includes Mr.Soundhar , Mr.Balaji popularly known as Dhadi Balaji, John Vijay ,
The event went on to be a magnum opus of Loyola college, the function was facilited by the prominent Direction Gautham Vasudev Menon. Winners were announced and awarded by our chief guest. During his speech at the event he quoted " Make Film with dedication and love. That will let you to great heights" he said. All the awardees were proud and the event went on to be a grand success.

Velachery - Coal Barbecue

Then the main course will be kept on tables all self served. They have options for veg and non veg. On have to inform while pre booking. They have desserts and finally the ice cream. All Unlimited...!! 

They provide a special item after all your main courses, it's named freeze here. Saravanan, manager says himself " It's a special dish here where we provide customers here a hide n seek biscuit dipped in liquid nitrogen which is absolutely edible. But only one will be provided each as more than one will make your tongue freeze "

Campus News - ART BEAT

The Department of Visual Communication , Loyola college Chennai conducting ART BEAT, An inter college competition.
The festival happens every year and this time it is happening in the month of Valentine. After many successful events conducted by the students of Loyola this event is organized on Feb 24th. Students can join the show and have fun participating.Last year the event was a grand success and lots more entries are expected this year as well. The inviting works have in initiated and done on full swing.

The festivent consists of various programs for the students of other colleges in and around Chennai to participate. It includes both the On-Stage and Off-Stage events, for which the registration are done on the spot. The one day cultural fest consists of events like channel surfing, Adzap, J.A.M, Ivargal Santhithal, Monoact which come under on stage events. Doodle Art, Scene Recreation, Produce my script, photography, Face Painting which come under Off-Stage events.

Book Fair

THE WEEK FOR BOOK LOVERS AND BOOK SELLERS..!!

                  Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI) organised a book fair at Chennai on the first week of the year. The book fair at Chennai was held from Jan 6 to Jan 19 2017, at  St.George Anglo Indian Hr. sec . School , Amanthakarai, Chennai.

      
                The Chennai Book Fair is considered to be one of the biggest events in the Chennai cultural calendar along with the Chennai music season In addition to book stalls, there are food and refreshment stalls to serve the needs of hungry visitors. Regular debates, contests and speeches are held at the venue. In recent times, movie clippings of films of international renown are filmed at the venue of the fair. Annual awards to the best writer and the best publisher are given at the fair.


                Various varieties of books were made available this year as usual. People in Chennai visited the place daily and made it a grand success. Rs.10 was made as the entry fee. There was nearly 700 stalls put up at the fair.


             Spread over two lakh sq.ft., the book fair will have publishers and sellers from across the country, including Malayalam publishers.
                             “We expect 10 lakh to 11 lakh visitors this year. It was quite challenging to organise this book fair in six months. Last year, we had to postpone the fair to June due to the December 2015 floods,” said one of the organizers.

சொட்ட சொட்ட ரத்தம் ..!!

    ஒரு நாள் இரவு, நானும் என் அம்மாவும் விருந்தினரோடு பேசிக்கொண்டு இருந்தோம். எங்கள் வீட்டுக்கு இரண்டு வாசல் .. நான் முன் வாசலை பார்த்தபடி அமர்ந்திருக்க, வந்திருந்த விருந்தாளி பின் வாசலை பார்த்தபடி அமர்ந்திருந்தார். பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில் அந்த உறவினர் முகத்தில் திடீர் அச்சம்..!!

   எந்த வித சத்தமும் இல்லாது உள்ளே நுழைய முற்பட்ட அந்த நபரை பார்த்து அதிர்ச்சியுற்றார் எங்கள் விருந்தினர். அந்த நபர் இந்த வீட்டுக்கு புதியவர் இல்லை, வந்திருந்த விருந்தாளிக்கு புதியவர். திருட்டு எண்ணத்தோடு வந்தவரை பார்த்து அலறிவிட்டார்  விருந்தாளி. பதட்டத்தை புரிந்துகொண்ட நான் புறவாசல் கதவை அடைத்து வேகமாக ஓடி ஏன் தந்தையை அழைத்து வர. இருவரும் கையில் பொருளோடு சண்டைக்கு தயார் ஆனோம். தப்பிக்கும் வழிகள் அடைக்கப்பட்டன. அந்த முற்றத்தில் நான், ஏன் தந்தை, அந்த நபர் மட்டுமே.

   காத்திருந்தோம் வெளியே வர இருந்த ஒரே வழியில் காத்திருந்தோம்.
அந்த நபர் சற்று எட்டி பார்த்து யாரும் இல்லை என்பதை அருந்து வெளியே வர, நடுமண்டையில் படேல் என்று விழுந்தது முதல் அடி. இந்த முறை ரத்தம் இல்லை.. சிறிது காயங்களோடு மீண்டும் உள்ள ஓடிவிட தீவிரம் ஆனது சண்டை. உள்ளேய இருந்த பொருட்கள் அனைத்தும் உருட்டிவிட படித்தது. ஒளிந்துகொள்ள வழியே இல்லாமல் செய்து தேடுதல் பணி நடந்து கொண்டிருந்தது.  தகரம் ஊருல , பிளாஸ்டிக் உடைய சத்தம் தீவிரம் ஆனது....

இது அனைத்தையும் வெளியில் இருந்து பயத்துடன் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தேன் நன். இறுதியாக அடி பட்டு ரத்தம் சொட்ட சொட்ட அந்த நபரின் வாலை பிடித்து வெளியே தூக்கிக்கொண்டு வந்தார் அந்த நான்குகால், இரண்டு பெரிய பல், மீசை மூக்குடன் முகர்ந்து முகர்ந்து சந்து பொந்தில் பூந்து ஓடும் நீண்ட வாலுடன் தந்திரமாக வீட்டிற்குள் நுழையும் அந்த கண்டதை கொறிக்கும் திருட்டு நபரை ...



  பிறகு என்ன அவரை வெளியே கொண்டு சென்று போடவேண்டிய இடத்தில் போட்டுவிட்டு அவர் வந்திருக்க கூடிய எல்ல வழிகைகைளயும் அடைத்து விட்டு வெற்றி கொண்டதை விருந்தினரிடம் அறிவித்தோம்.....
